Inside the HF355: A Ferrari-Heart Custom Motorcycle and the Craft Behind It

Most “custom” motorcycle builds are little more than parts swaps with fresh paint. Max Hazan is not most builders. He creates bespoke machines from the ground up — his latest built around a vintage Ferrari engine.

I’d followed the build process and caught a glimpse of the bike when it rolled into the Macchinissima III event earlier this year, but spending time in Max’s downtown LA shop was different. I was able to examine every element up close and hear how each detail had been carefully considered, and reconsidered.

"Every single piece of this motorcycle was made from scratch." - Max

After eighteen months of work on a project he dubbed the HF355 — a 600-pound, 400-horsepower motorcycle with a Ferrari heart — the result was a masterpiece.

My friend, filmmaker Alex Colorito, is someone I’ve wanted to collaborate with for years. We’d talked about finding the right project, and Max’s build was worth the wait. We spent a full day in the shop, and watching two artists at work in their respective crafts was a reminder of what real creative work looks like.

Thank you, Max and Alex, for the collaboration — and to Pirelli for making a product that matches the HF355's performance 🤝

Our favorite build of the year has to be Max Hazan’s HF355. A true masterpiece. Check out why he chose Pirelli to outfit his one-of-one custom build powered by a Ferrari engine. Performance worthy of the vision. 🔥
